Safety, 24-hour security and emergency response Northminster Presbyterian Village was designed with the special needs of seniors in mind. We provide around-the-clock security and 24-hour emergency response. Each studio, deluxe studio and one bedroom apartment in the Sumner J. Smith Pavilion is also equipped with grab bars in the showers and other important safety features. Exceptional Food Service Northminster is particularly proud of the gourmet meals served in our restaurant-style dining room. Three nutritious meals are served each day. Special menu choices are available for those with health related diet restrictions. Our dining room, with restaurant-style seating is designed to create an environment for seniors to meet and enjoy each others company. Personal Assistance On a weekly basis, or more often if needed, our staff provides laundry and housekeeping services for each resident. Staff also provides needed assistance with bathing, grooming, and dressing, as well as continuous health and medication monitoring. Each resident's plan of care in individualized so staff assists only as needed, promoting independence. Though Northminster is not licensed for skilled nursing care, residents may elect to receive visits from home health providers, depending on the individual situation. Northminster is located less than 30 minutes from several medical centers: Athens Regional and St Mary's in Athens, BJC in Commerce, and Lanier Park and Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Outings, Activities, and Transportation Northminster's full-time activities director prepares a busy schedule of events for seniors to choose from as they plan their agendas. Many outings are planned for shopping at The Outlet Mall in Commerce, Georgia or other nearby shopping malls. For cultural outings, Northminster's residents enjoy special trips to the University of Georgia and Brenau University, each less than 30 minutes away. Events include exceptional theatrical and musical performances as well a special art showings. In addition, Northminster offers transportation to and from doctors' appointments. Dementia Care For residents diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease or other forms of dementia, Northminster offers a special dementia care area. In this wing, located on the second floor of the Sumner J.
