The Sumner J Smith Pavilion Beautiful rural living The main building in the Northminster community, the 61-apartment Sumner J. Smith Pavilion, opened in December of 1998. Boasting a large fireplace in the great room and four comfortable family gathering areas, the Smith Pavilion is both gracious and inviting. A library on the second floor offers assorted reading and video materials. An enormous two-story veranda overlooking a sparkling lake is a delightful example of the architecture's southern grandeur. Northminster's courtyards, raised picnic areas and beautiful landscaping add to its beauty. 
Northminster's 60 acres are beautifully landscaped with walking paths and gazebos. All apartments in the Sumner J. Pavilion have private baths, wall-to-wall carpeting, and a kitchenette area. Residents may choose from a Studio or a deluxe Studio, or one-bedroom apartments. Residents bring some of their own belongings to personalize their apartments and make then feel like home. Northminster has a built-in postal service, and each resident has his or her own mailbox. We also offer regular worship experiences, low-impact aerobics, arts and crafts, and other programs coordinated by our full-time activities director. Monthly rates range from $1495 to $2595. Northminster does not require long-term contracts, but we are certain that many seniors will wish to call Northminster home for the rest of their lives. Independent Living Cottages 
Soon, construction will begin on Northminster's Independent Living Cottages, which will be located across the lake from the Sumner J. Smith Pavilion. Residents of the cottages will receive facility maintenance, groundskeeping services, and 24-hour security. The cottages provide the perfect living arrangement for seniors who no longer wish to upkeep a home but who do not yet need assisted living services. Many residents of independent living cottages later move to assisted living facilities as their age or health status changes. At Northminster, when such a need arises, independent living residents may receive greater levels of care without leaving the community they have come to know as home.
